Jamie Campbell Bower Hints at “Out of Control” ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5: “Completely Insane”

Fans who thought the fourth season of “Stranger Things” was intense should brace themselves for an even more explosive and jaw-dropping final season. Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Henry Creel/Vecna in the popular Netflix series, recently gave some exciting insights about the upcoming season during an appearance on iHeart’s “I’ve Never Said This Before” with Tommy DiDario.

Bower, appearing on iHeart Radio’s I’ve Never Said This Before podcast with Tommy DiDario , shared his excitement and astonishment at the scale of the new season. “If you thought last season was nuts, this season is just out of control, wild, like it’s bonkers. It really, really is,” he said. “It’s bigger. It’s just completely insane. It’s completely insane.”

Reflecting on the previous season, Bower mentioned that while the events of season four were somewhat straightforward, the complexity of season five has even him puzzled at times. He compared this experience to his role as Caius in the “Twilight” saga, noting that portraying Henry Creel/Vecna has similarly allowed him to explore and rediscover aspects of the character, aided in part by “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” a play set in 1959 that provides backstory for several characters.

“The First Shadow” delves into the early lives of characters like Joyce Byers, Bob Newby, and Jim Hopper Jr., beginning with Henry Creel’s move to Hawkins, Indiana. According to the play’s logline, the Creel family struggles with their new start as past shadows loom large. Bower found watching the play enlightening, as it addressed many questions he had about his character’s origins. “It’s just continually building,” he said. “It’s been really interesting as well to have the play on in London, which I went to go and see… To have a lot of the questions or a lot of the thoughts that I had about that character kind of answered by watching the play and also discover more, was really interesting for me.”

Bower also praised the heightened level of detail in the show’s final season, expressing his enthusiasm as an actor for the intricacies involved. Despite having filmed a significant portion of season five since production began in January, he revealed that there is still much work to be done. Therefore, fans might have to wait a bit longer to embark on the “wild” journey back to The Upside Down.

As anticipation builds, Bower’s comments suggest that “Stranger Things” season five will push boundaries and deliver a spectacular conclusion to the beloved series.
