Pom Klementieff Hints at Potential Role in DCU with James Gunn

Could we be seeing Pom Klementieff make the jump over to DC with her former director?

During her appearance at San Antonio’s Superhero Comic Con, the French actress disclosed ongoing discussions with James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, about her involvement in the DC Universe. Having previously collaborated on Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” in 2017, the duo seems eager to continue their partnership.

When questioned about the specific character she might portray in the rebooted DC cinematic universe, Klementieff remained tight-lipped, humorously dodging the query with, “Do you really think I’m going to answer this question?” She did, however, confirm, “Yes, we’ve been talking about one specific character, but I can’t talk about that right now.”

Klementieff is well-known for her role as Mantis in the MCU, having appeared in “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), and “Thor: Love and Thunder” (2022). Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “It was always my dream to be an X-Men or part of a Marvel movie. Then, I saw the first Guardians of the Galaxy, and it became my first Marvel movie ever. Then, I got cast in the second one. I feel so lucky.”

Regarding the possibility of reprising her MCU role, Klementieff expressed openness, stating, “I love the character. I’m sure the fans would love to see it, but I don’t know. It depends on the project.”

Although not yet officially part of the DCU, Klementieff made an uncredited cameo as a dancer in Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” (2021). Since taking over DC Studios alongside Peter Safran in 2022, Gunn has been diligently working on “Superman: Legacy,” which aims to launch a new DC multiverse.

Gunn, who has previously indicated his willingness to cast MCU actors in his DC projects, mentioned to Empire that a crossover between Marvel and DC is “more likely now that I’m in charge,” though he emphasized that such an event is far in the future. “We have to establish what we’re doing [at DC] first,” Gunn explained, adding that discussions about a crossover have been “very, very light and fun.”

As Klementieff’s potential role in the DCU remains under wraps, fans eagerly anticipate further announcements and the continuation of her collaboration with Gunn in the superhero realm.
